Description

Instructor-led training held in a classroom setting incorporating both cognitive and psychomotor elements of skills practice and testing of course information.

Upon completion of the (1 day) course, the participant will have reviewed & returned demonstration of skills according to 2015 AHA Guidelines as follows:

  • Apply Basic Life Support (BLS) assessment sequences to the adult patient for systematic evaluation
  • Perform early high-quality BLS integrating early AED use
  • Recognize and manage respiratory arrest
  • Discuss early recognition and management of:
    • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
    • Stroke
    • Bradyarrhythmias and Tachyarrhythmias
    • Cardiac arrest
    • Immediate post-arrest care
  • Evaluate resuscitation efforts during cardiac arrest
  • Demonstrate effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance resuscitation team
  • Demonstrate effective team dynamics during and post event

Intended Audience

Health care provider with CURRENT AHA ACLS Provider card at time of course

Prerequisites

  • Basic EKG knowledge and skills
  • Current and actual AHA ACLS provider card
  • Current and actual AHA BLS provider card
  • Successful completion of AHA ACLS student online pre-test (with a grade of 84% or greater) available at http://www.heart.org/eccstudent and enter code: acls15
